Catch the Live Pitch Finale at the Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival this November
Apply for the opportunity to pitch your dynamic and creative short film idea for a chance to receive industry support and a cash prize to make your short film a reality. Selected finalists will receive mentorship, feedback, and professional advice from mentors and sponsors at our Pitch Clinic, and then get a chance to pitch like a pro in front of a live audience at the Pitch Competition Finale during the 2019 Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival.

What is So You Think You Can Pitch?
So You Think You Can Pitch? is an annual pitch competition that happens during the Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival. Selected filmmakers pitch their short film ideas creatively to a jury in front of a live audience. Their projects are evaluated by a panel of industry judges on clarity of vision, feasibility and creative direction. The winning filmmaker receives a cash prize and sponsorship packages to support them in completing their project and when finished, the winning short films are premiered at the next Reel Asian film festival.
Pitch Eligibility:
- Film project must feature an Asian representative (South Asian, East Asian, Southeast Asian) in a key creative role (director, writer, producer, lead actor). Please specify this role(s) in your application.
- Film projects can be at any stage of production; whether it is in development, production or post-production.
- Finished films cannot exceed 15 minutes.
- Films can be dramatic, documentary or experimental.
- Projects originating on film are acceptable, but the filmmaker is responsible for bearing transfer costs to digital (for the post-production phase).

August 6 – AMA
August 31 – Applications Close
September 25 – Shortlist notified
November 1 & 5 – Pitch Clinic
November 10 – Live Pitch Finale
November 7 – 15 – Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival
The 14th Annual Pitch Competition Prizes are:
- $4,000 Cash
- Business affairs & legal consultation with Behind The Scenes Services
- Acting support (if applicable) from ACTRA Toronto including consultation, coaching, and more
- Opportunity to premiere work at the 2020 Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival (subject to review), with full festival accreditation
- Digital film and festival strategy consultation with CineSend
- A production workflow consultation with Charles Street Video, which includes:
- $2,700 in edit suite access and/or production equipment rentals
- 2 sessions with Charles Street Video’s in-house editor
- One-year membership with Charles Street Video
SILVER PRIZE AWARD:
- $1,000 Cash
- Business affairs & legal consultation with Behind The Scenes Services
- Acting support (if applicable) from ACTRA Toronto including consultation, coaching, and more
- Opportunity to premiere work at the 2020 Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival (subject to review), with full festival accreditation
