Reel Asian will be co-presenting the documentary To Singapore, With Love with the Asian Institute at The Munk School of Global Affairs on Thursday, April 2nd at 7PM.
In the film, director Tan Pin Pin attends a funeral in the hills of southern Thailand, a family reunion in Malaysia and goes for a drive through the English countryside, searching the world for the displaced souls of Singapore: different generations of Singaporean political exiles who have not been able to come home. In September of 2014, To Singapore, With Love was controversially barred from public screenings in Singapore.
There will be a panel discussion after the film with Victor Li (Associate Professor, Comparative Literature and English, University of Toronto) and Girish Daswani (Assistant Professor, Anthropology, University of Toronto).
This is a FREE event and registration is required to secure a seat at the screening. To register and for all relevant information, please click here.
