Regent Park Film Festival‘s Under The Stars series runs every Wednesday from July 11 – August 15. Now in its 5th year, Under the Stars has grown into Regent Park’s largest summer community event. They show widely loved films that prominently feature Indigenous, Black and People of Colour on screen.
Found inside a shining stalk of bamboo by an old bamboo cutter and his wife, a tiny girl grows rapidly into an exquisite young lady. The mysterious young princess enthrals all who encounter her, but ultimately she must confront her fate, the punishment for her crime.
Based on the popular Japanese folktale, The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter. This is Isao Takahata’s final film as director.
