The Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival, presented by National Bank, proudly presents the 2015 Spring showcase series, REMADE: LOVE, HATE, DEBATE from Friday May 15 to Saturday May 16 at AGO Jackman Hall. All screenings are free and open to public.
The series will spotlight three films over the course of the weekend, centered around the discussion of Asian remakes. The showcase kicks off with the Canadian premiere of SUPERMEN OF MALEGAON, a documentary on a small town in India, where a group of cinema enthusiasts make their own low-budget funny spoofs of Bollywood films.
On Saturday, May 16, the box office hit MISS GRANNY will be screened alongside 20 ONCE AGAIN, the Chinese remake of the film. The films share the same story – a 70-year old woman who magically transforms into her 20-year old self – but presented in their own cultural setting. 20 ONCE AGAIN, like its original Korean counterpart, opened in China this year with impressive box office numbers.
Free admission for all film screenings. Tickets available one hour before screening and are subject to a first-come, first-served basis.
