Reel Asian is proud to co-present The Roots Remain at the Bloor Cinema with Cinema Politica on Tuesday, April 5. Directors Jean-Sebastien Francoeur and Andrew Marchand-Boddy follows the story of Canadian-raised graffiti artist FONKI as he reunites with his family in Cambodia.

SYNOPSIS: Canadian-raised graffiti artist FONKI returns to his ancestral home of Cambodia to reunite with his family and to meet with other leaders of the country’s evolving hip-hop community. The Roots Remain combines archival film and original footage to chronicle the effects of the Cambodian genocide and FONKI’s passionate efforts to bring street art to the youth of his country.
