Reel Asian joins the party at Bollywood Monster Mashup to bring you free outdoor film screenings in Mississauga!
The Bollywood Monster Film Shorts, curated by Reel Asian, proudly co-presents two stellar short films that have made their way through the festival circuit. Canadian animator Alisi Telengut’s award-winning film Tears of Inge takes its roots from an ancient nomadic story. In My Dear Americans, director Arpita Kumar presents a new immigrant couple’s experience with the Fourth of July festivities, and their touching take on embracing their new American identity.
Tears of Inge also screened at Reel Asian last year in the Rewind, Pause, Play shorts programme.
Bollywood Monster Mashup is the largest South Asian festival in Canada. The 5th annual event is back bigger and better than ever, with special events leading up to monstrous FREE Bollywood shows at Mississauga Celebration Square on August 7-8. This year includes special Pan American fusion acts, a bigger KidZone, dance lessons, mouth-watering food and our Bollywood headliner flown in straight from Mumbai!

SYNOPSIS: A recent immigrant to the U.S, Tejpreet is reluctant to embrace her new American identity. In contrast, her husband celebrates everything that mildly emanates America. On America’s most patriotic holiday, the fourth of July, they have a threatening racist encounter that crushes the Sikh man’s enthusiastic spirit. Witnessing her husband’s devastation, Tejpreet makes a choice against hate and turns the situation around, if only momentarily. TEASER
