Congratulations to Mina Walking on winning the inaugural Discovery Award at the Canadian Screen Awards!
Earlier last month, the Canadian Screen Awards announced their nominees and the Academy special awards including the inaugural Discovery Award, sponsored by the Talent Fund. The award is presented to Canada’s top emerging talent making movies with micro-budgets under $250,000. Congratulations to Yosef Baraki, Andrew Korogyi and the rest of the Mina Walking team!
“Mina Walking displays a creativity and resourcefulness unhampered by limited funding or difficult filming conditions on location in the Middle East,” said Academy CEO Helga Stephenson. “It is a film made against all odds, with a unique voice and vision, worthy of this inaugural Canadian Screen Award.”
Reel Asian is very proud to share Mina Walking‘s latest awards and accolades. We screened the film back in November at the stunning Aga Khan Museum, where it won the Fasken Martineau Best Feature Film Award and the Menkes Audience Award.
