Reel Asian co-presents Shivendra Dungarpur’s Celluloid Man at the inaugural Scarborough Film Festival. This fascinating documentary takes a look at the history of Indian cinema through the life and work of P.K. Nair. The Scarborough Film Festival takes place from June 4, 2013 – June 9, 2013.

As Mr. Nair speaks, we see the history of Indian cinema unfold. What emerges is a portrait of a man so in love with cinema that even his family had to take a backseat to his obsession. Mr. Nair is not just the founder of the National Film Archive, but a living breathing museum of cinema. Even in retirement, he chooses to stay across the road from the Archive watching over his legacy. The fact that India has a cinematic heritage at all is the singehanded achivement of this man. There will be on one like him again.
Reel Asian is also proud to co-present Toronto-based filmmaker Stephanie Law’s short film, Little Miss Jihad. Stephanie was the winner of Reel Asian’s 2011 So You Think You Can Pitch Competition in the Emerging Filmmaker category.
